the greatness of humanity
Do you know where the greatness of humanity is found? It is found in love. The only strangeness I find in this world is the depiction of love as weakness, when in fact it is our greatest strength. I am not talking of easily loved family or friends, but an all-consuming love reaching every corner of the world. To feel pain for someone you have never met, and joy for freedoms you may never experience, to wish cheer and elation for others despite the differences you hold. The strength of love is found in freedom. It cannot be coerced or compelled. It is nurtured like a seedling in soil, needing water and nourishment, and the occasional removal of weeds, hoping eventually to bloom through the care afforded it.
Now, the same freedom which allows a peak, also causes the deepest valleys. It is a freedom which allows sin. The child who is free to love is also free to sin. Therefore, if we take away the ability to sin, we conversely lose the capability to love; and in that scenario where we cannot strive for the pinnacle, would we even be human?
